A is for Aardvark

Today I'm unveiling the first of a new series called Animal Life Hacks.  I was teaching my son about alphabetizing and used the example of Aardvark to show how it came before other words that start with the letter A.  When I later noticed how my phone contact list was sorted alphabetically, I wondered if A-names get more calls (or perhaps more butt-dials) since they are always first on the list.  The poor aaardvark would always be at the top!

Also, seriously ... why were we taught Aardvarks are Anteaters.  They are only distant relatives.  Aardvarks are in fact eaters of ants.  But they are NOT "Anteaters."  Please spread the word!

The whole series won't be quite so quirky, but I do have a few plans in mind.

Behind the Scene s

I got a new digital drawing tablet and I'm trying to figure it out.  It is a lot of fun, but I'm still not sure I'll be giving up the pencil and paper initial drafts.  It is a good break for my eyes to not stare at the screen, and also gives me another feeling altogether.   That said, the convenience of not having to scan it in and edit out all my pencil lines is nice.  And did I mention the undo button?!
